Most Friday nights I join a group of artists to work from a model. Like Forrest Gump’s box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get. The look and wardrobe of the model, the lighting, the angle I get on the pose are all pretty much out of my control, but I like it that way. I figure it is up to me to make something out of whatever I happen to be looking at.
This model’s tribal-patterned headband took me back to the 70s, and her wistful but unregretful expression added to the feeling. There is a lot of thick and thin variety to the paint on this one – it has an exciting surface.
